Emily & Joe {Waterfront Park Engagement}

There are so many things that bring couples to Charleston for their weddings, proposals and engagement sessions. One of them is the waterside views – whether it’s the Atlantic ocean or boat filled Charleston harbor, there are plenty of wonderful options for photos. In addition to the waterways, our flora is sprawling, luscious and green most of the year. And our downtown is a large historic district full of parks, landmarks and eclectic architectural design. Emily and Joe’s love for history brought them on vacation to Charleston a while back, and in front of the pineapple fountain at Waterfront Park, Joe asked Emily to marry him! She of course said yes and fast forward, they decided to return to charming Charleston to have a Waterfront Park engagement session.

Bridgit had a great time photographing these two in this meaningful spot. And how awesome do they look!? Joe donned his Army uniform and Emily wore a stunning perfectly structured red dress to match the color of the Army’s field artillery unit. Waterfront Park also has a beautiful tree lined path that Bridgit took them down for some more formal shots. We especially love when Emily livened up the shoot with some twirling. Action and improvisation always create unique engagement photos. Bridget also brought these two up to the roof of the Vendue Inn which offers sweeping views of the Holy City. You can even see the steeple of one of our most iconic churches in the distance, St. Phillip’s Episcopal (which opened in 1836 for you history buffs!).

Emily is a PHD candidate in English Literature with an emphasis on children’s literature, and Joe was a history major in college, so together they love reading and learning. They describe themselves as “very nerdy” and also love Doctor Who and Game of Thrones! Most of all, they like to make each other laugh. Their playfulness and love definitely comes through in the photos.
