Carly & Marco { Historic Rice Mill Wedding }

The biggest part of Charleston’s charm is the way history courses throughout the city.  A Historic Rice Mill wedding places a couple and their guests in one of the city’s most versatile historic spaces and is always a beautiful affair.  Carly and Marco are avid hikers and wanted their love of nature to spill over into their wedding and the Rice Mill was the perfect venue!  Jeanne arrived in time to see Carly’s beautiful bridal look of long-sleeved, lace embroided mermaid gown with a plunging back.  A pair of glittery Badgley Mischka heels rounded out the classic ensemble.  The bridal party took to Waterfront Park for some elegant portraits among the shady trees.  They even ventured down to the iconic pineapple fountain for a little low country flair.

Back at the Rice Mill, the groomsmen were having a blast.  Marco looked dapper in his tux with white tie.  Once it was time for the ceremony to begin, he took his place beneath a gorgeous arbor of white flowers and lush greenery.  White chairs lined the space with white and green bouquets and candles dotted along the aisle.  Alongside the picturesque harbor, the scene was magical.  When Carly arrived, however, all eyes were on her, and she dazzled.  Marco and she exchanged their vows to a few tears from their gathered friends and family and sealed it with a quick kiss.  The journey was over, they were newlyweds!  A private dock overlooking the harbor was an amazing choice for sunset newlywed portraits and we love their smiles in the golden glow of the fading sun.  They look so in love!

The interior of the rice mill is an ideal locale for a natural themed reception.  The exposed brick, wide windows and polished wood floors create a welcoming atmosphere and the light streaming in glistened off of the glass centerpieces, sending a glow scattering in all directions.  Gold votives and pale pink roses were the perfect accents for Carly’s vision.  We love all of the tiny details like the bellini station and hanging glass bulbs.  As the day fell to night, a warm glow replaced the sunlight and the reception transformed into an intimate gathering amidst a romantic atmosphere.  It’s not hard to imagine that the time flew quickly after that and soon Carly and Marco were making their getaway, venturing out into the night in search of the next great adventure.

Thank you for inviting us along for your wedding day.  We’ve had such a great time getting to know the two of you and your families.  We wish you all nothing but the best in the years to come.  Congratulations again!
