Katherine & Brendan { Mills House Wedding }

Bridgit recently photographed an elegant Mills House wedding. Katherine and Brendan met during a social function at the University of Virginia in 2008 and, after some casual dating and later a long-distance relationship, he popped the question at sunset in Florence, Italy in 2014. The couple wanted a classy wedding day that also reflected their fun personalities. Bridgit began by catching Katherine surrounded by her friends and laughing as she got ready for her wedding. She was stunning in her embellished flowing gown with a decorated lace neckline. A few photos of the finishing touches and away they went, Katherine surrounded by her baby blue dressed entourage all with matching white bouquets.

St. Mary of the Annunciation served as the venue for the couple’s traditional Catholic ceremony. The church itself is open and bright, with white walls and elongated stained glass windows that cast a beautiful natural light. Katherine looked heavenly walking down the aisle and the couple’s first kiss as newlyweds was perfect with tapestries of angels hanging in the background. From the church, the wedding parties went to White Point Garden on Charleston’s famous battery for portraits. The bridesmaids gathered with a beaming Katherine while Brendan’s eight groomsmen flanked him in suits of varying dark blues. After taking a quick stroll through the Garden, the newlyweds were all smiles on the streets of Charleston, anxiously awaiting their reception at The Mills House where good music and food awaited them.

The reception hall at The Mills House was elegantly decorated with white tablecloths and chair covers wrapped with blue bows. Katherine and Brendan were greeted by guests with a round of applause, everyone eager to celebrate their new life as wife and husband. After a formal dinner catered by the Mills House and a beautiful three tiered white and blue cake by Ashley Bakery for dessert, the party turned to drinks and lively music from The Mighty Kicks! Everyone got into the action on the dance floor with the newlyweds, eager to expend a little energy from the day’s events. After a few dances with his new bride, Brendan led Katherine from the venue wrapped in glow bracelets, both grinning from their special day.

Congratulations again Brendan and Katherine! We appreciate you allowing us to take part in this joyous occasion.
