Jackie & Steven { Old Wide Awake Plantation Wedding }

Not all of Charleston’s best venues are kept within the city proper.  Shorts drives outside the limits are rewarded with stunning venues, such as a recent Old Wide Awake Plantation wedding that Shannon had the privilege of photographing.  Just south of Charleston in Hollywood, SC, the plantation has a wide manicured lawn and beautiful waterfront views.  The plantation house is filled with southern charm with tons of pinks and whites to go with the polished hardwood.  Jackie and Steven wanted to ramp up the southern feel of their wedding and the plantation was perfect for their theme.  Jackie’s dress was a southern belle inspired ball gown with a layered flowing skirt, lace stitched bodice and sequined midriff.  Shimmery pink flats and vintage pink and gold earrings rounded out the beautiful ensemble.

Out on the two-story wraparound porch, Steven awaited the first look with Jackie.  Suited up in a grey-blue three-piece and pale pink tie with navy dots, he was quite handsome.  When Jackie stepped out, Steven was in awe with the rest of us.  Amidst the majestic southern atmosphere, she was breathtaking.  Shannon took them around to some of her favorite spots on the plantation and we love the pre-ceremony portraits, especially those with Jackie twirling her dress.  A few moments of whimsy are always precious in such lovely days.  After portraits with their wedding party, it was time to head off and get hitched!

In front of one of the plantation’s ponds stood a rustic arbor hung with gossamer pink fabric and a lush bouquet of pinks and purples with a little pop of orange.  Signs greeting the guests encouraged everyone to grab a drink and have a seat for the festivities.  Little bouquets capped each row and completed the ceremony’s natural beauty.  After the vows were exchanged, everyone headed off to a nearby grove of trees for portraits. The late afternoon sun fell late in the sky and cast a golden hue over everything, creating a beautiful glow in the photos.

Just outside the plantation house, tables with royal blue linens were topped with centerpieces matching the arbor’s bouquet and complimented by mercury silver votives.  A table of worn, exposed wood was set aside for the newlyweds so they could be surrounded by loved ones during dinner.  Delicious food awaited guests as they loaded up for a festive night of dancing and merriment.  The sun had set well below the horizon before Jackie and Steven decided to call it a night and head out in search of future adventures.

Thank you both again for bringing us along for such a beautiful day.  We wish you the best as you move forward together.  Congratulations again!!!
