Courtney & Jason { Hollywood SC Wedding }

Charleston is the perfect wedding destination for locals and travelers alike, but some of the area’s most beautiful venues are a bit off the beaten path.  A Hollywood SC wedding, for example, features plenty of southern charm, wide trees, and shaded lanes.  Just south of Charleston on Highway 17, Hollywood is a quiet community known for its hospitality and home cooking.  For Courtney and Jason, it was the perfect spot for them to celebrate their marriage.  Originally scheduled for October, the pair had to abandon their original wedding plans because Hurricane Matthew was swirling just offshore – they settled for a small ceremony in their home of Washington, DC.  However, they were still determined to get their Charleston wedding, and made new arrangements for a spring event, and Cana was on hand to catch all of the excitement.

She caught up with Courtney as the bride was putting the finishing touches on her ensemble – a gorgeous, strapless dress with lace accents and satin ribbon paired with gold earrings and an ornate hair clip.  For an outdoor wedding, her sophisticated, airy look was perfect for a Spring afternoon in the Holy City.  Not far away, Jason waited patiently for his bride to arrive, dressed quite dashingly himself in a grey three piece with peach tie.  Behind him, a beautiful tree spilled its wide branches over rows of rich brown chairs.  With a soft breeze blowing in off the marsh, the duo exchanged their vows once again.  After a touching kiss, they headed off to be with their families and to take a few portraits before the real party began!  We adore these two – their smiles are infectious and the love between them is palpable.

Like the ceremony, the reception was held at a private waterfront residence underneath a huge white tent.  White linens, crystal centerpieces, and scattered bottles of wine created an inviting, sophisticated atmosphere for the gathered guests.  At the entrance was a table full of photo booth goodies – novelty glasses and masks – perfect for those with just a bit of kid left in them.  After a delicious dinner and fantastic sweet treats, it was time to take to the dance floor and celebrate properly.  Everyone danced long after the sun went down and the chorus of crickets and frogs struck up their familiar tune.  It was the perfect end to a beautiful day.

We’d like to thank you both again for bringing us along on this journey, and it was such a journey!  Despite the setbacks of the Hurricane, you two never lost sight of what you wanted, and we’re so happy we got a chance to make it a reality.  Congratulations again!
