Kerri & Gregory { Johns Island Wedding }

Charleston’s historic venues and outdoor spaces are always great to photograph but sometimes we like something off of the beaten path.  A recent Johns Island wedding, captured by Cana, brought together family and a close knit group of friends for a week of celebration.  Kerri and Gregory wanted an intimate and romantic wedding day, focusing on each other’s outgoing and fun personalities to bring a touch of levity.  Kerri’s gown was so gorgeous – a long-sleeved lace top with gossamer skirt complimented by strapped sandals.  Her bridal portraits in front of a huge oak with the marsh spreading into the background were stunning and her smile dazzled.  Gregory was quite handsome himself in his navy blue three-piece suit with striped baby blue tie.

For the ceremony, the oak was draped with white fabric and the gorgeous waterfront vista was the arbor.  White chairs adorned with white roses lined the riverbank and the atmosphere was perfect for their romantic wedding.  The bride made her long-awaited entrance and a few tears were shed, and after the vows were recited, Kerri and Gregory became newlyweds.  After digging up a buried bottle of bourbon – a southern tradition to ward off rain on the wedding day – the couple shared some sips with family and then Cana led them to a quieter part of the river for some stunning sunset newlywed portraits.  The golden hue of the sun set Kerri’s hair ablaze and the two danced in the warm light, their smiles never fading.

Back at the house, polished wood family style tables dotted the lawn and one banquet table was set for a feast.  The crystal and gold elements scattered throughout the party were perfect for the reception’s inviting atmosphere.  Delectable finger foods and a stocked bar invited nibbling and having a cocktail or two before dinner.  B. Gourmet Catering‘s feast was raved about as the guests dined on southern favorites and traditional dishes, charging up for the long night of partying.  It was the perfect end to a gorgeous day.

Thank you both again for inviting us into your family for your wedding and we had such a wonderful time getting to know you.  We wish you both the best as you move forward together.  Congratulations again!
