Stephanie & David {Millstone at Adam’s Pond Wedding}

We have a beautiful spring wedding to share with you all today! Stephanie and David got married at The Millstone at Adam’s Pond. The Millstone is a gorgeous historic wedding venue in Columbia, SC. Courtney and her team, with Overflow Events, did an awesome job helping Stephanie plan and coordinate her wedding day. They helped with everything from set-up to the lovely flower arrangements. We love the unique traditions and details this couple included on their wedding day. In lieu of a guestbook, they had their guests sign a wooden tree puzzle.  They also had a very unique tradition called a “cake pull”.  The Cake Pull gets its roots from an old Victorian tradition of “ribbon pulling.” In those days, charms of luck and good fortune were placed into the wedding cake by the bride for her single friends. Nowadays, bakers place sterling silver charms with specific meanings inside the bottom layer of the bride’s cake and all the single ladies are given the opportunity to pull a charm from the cake (a ceremony called the “ribbon pull”) just before the cake is cut. Their guests loved it! The bride and groom also made their own wine that they served at the reception.  They then sent bottles of their custom wine home with their guests as a gift!

They ended the night with a relaxed and intimate celebration. The guys hung out on the back porch with some scotch and cigars while other guests mingled and chatted. At the end of the evening, guests sent the newlyweds off with a grand sparkler exit. Congratulations Stephanie and David!
