Nikia and Jason {Downtown Charleston Maternity Portraits}

What’s the perfect Mother’s Day gift for a mom-to-be? A maternity portraits session! Jason surprised his expecting wife, Nikia, with a maternity portraits session in one of her favorite places – downtown Charleston. White Point Gardens and the Battery, which is located at the tip of Charleston’s peninsula,  was a nice place to photograph these two as it provided a variety of backdrops for their maternity portraits. The oak trees are of course stunning, but the park also offers a gazebo, views of Charleston’s Harbor, and street after street of historic homes in the surrounding area – all within a short walk. The excited couple came all the way down from Columbia to wander the park and beautiful historic district while Haley captured so many sweet moments. They color coordinated in pink, symbolizing the girl they are expecting, these two (soon to be three), looked great with all the lush green foliage of the park. We particularly liked the pink house Haley photographed Nikia in front of to compliment the pink theme of the session. We also adore the cute little pink shoes they brought as a prop. Haley did a beautiful job creating heartwarming photos of Nikia holding her bare belly. Nikia wore rings and a pretty bracelet that looked great on all the close up photos of her hands on her belly. Take note! If you’re planning a portrait shoot, consider that your hands will be photographed up close and adorn accordingly!

Jason, the owner of a small plumbing business, and Nikia, a “wonderful and caring nurse” (as Jason describes her), are looking forward to meeting their baby soon, but are clearly enjoying the pregnancy, too. Haley captured so many great laughs between these two during their maternity portraits and it seems the a smile never left Nikia’s face. You two made our job easy!
