Wedding Photography at the Governor Thomas Bennett House
ABOUT THE HOUSE
Built around 1825, the Governor Thomas Bennett House is rich with history and a beautifully restored snapshot of Federal architecture. Listed in the National Registry in 1978, the house boasts wide windows, ornately carved moldings and a breathtaking flying staircase. For those couples looking to add a natural touch to their portraits, the grounds of the Thomas Bennett House are perfect. From the front facade, which features a wide porch and iconic wrought iron fencing, to the multiple courtyards with Charlestonian iron benches and manicured gardens, the atmosphere is one of elegance and sophistication. The decorative iron fountains further the natural element and enhance the Charleston feel.
WHY WE LOVE PHOTOGRAPHING THE THOMAS BENNETT HOUSE
From the historic feel of the house and the grounds to the multitude of architectural elements, our photographers can always find something unique to capture at the Thomas Bennett House. The free-flying stair, one of only two in the city, produces breathtaking bridal portraits and is perfect for anyone desiring that southern belle feel. Similarly, the stair can be used to capture the bridal procession venturing from the upstairs bridal suites, a moment the bride will surely love to look back on. Each room is unique with a different color palette, but despite the hue, all exude the same ornate elegance to be expected from the house. Receptions held outdoors are gorgeous to photograph and the grounds are perfect for the large gatherings. The courtyards and porches allow a multitude of unique and beautiful portraits, especially the natural shots of laughing family members and friends. The fountains in the courtyards provide a beautiful backdrop for catching guests lost in conversation or the perfect intimate portrait of newlyweds simply lost in each other. We look forward to capturing these moments for you.
