Emily recently ventured just outside of Charleston to the banks of the Stono River for a lovely Island House wedding, and we’re excited to share some of her experience with you today! Located near Johns Island, the Island House offers gorgeous waterfront views and exclusive access to a private island perfect for outdoor or nature enthusiasts. Stephanie and Clayton certainly enjoy the outdoors and the Island House was perfect for their rustic Southern wedding. Stephanie was absolutely stunning in her flowing, strapless gown with a champagne pink ribbon at the waist and a gorgeous silver, beaded headband. Her hair was in an intricate pleated braid and complimented her look wonderfully.
Clayton was handsome as anything in his three piece suit of varying shades of blue as he awaited his bride-to-be for their first look. When Clayton saw Stephanie for the first time, she undoubtedly took his breath away. We love the photo of his smile and you can feel the love between them. Emily took the opportunity to capture a few portraits of them beneath the trees before bringing in the wedding party. The bridesmaids all held King Protea’s, an inspired and unique choice in place of the traditional bouquet.
The island’s ancient trees were strung with hurricane lanterns overlooking the calm waters of the Stono. Beneath several huge umbrellas, rows of chairs lined the banks of the Stono River. Between two huge lanterns, Stephanie and Clayton exchanged their vows. We love the natural atmosphere of the ceremony and how the environment served as the rich decor. After the “I do”s were exchanged, Stephanie and Clayton escaped to a vintage bus for some fun newlywed portraits. We love the outgoing and fun personalities of these two and their portraits showcased their energy! That pink is something and adds a blast of color amidst the greens and blues.
A huge tent strung with lights was the perfect venue for an outdoor reception. We love the rustic yet chic decor of polished wood, iron hurricane lanterns and pineapples! A symbol of Charleston’s hospitality, the pineapples were perfect for the inclusive and inviting atmosphere of the entire day. While their guests dined on delicacies provided by Duvall Events, Stephanie and Clayton spent some more time with Emily. Clayton joined her for a few photos amidst the blooms but we love the series with them by the water. Their blues and whites were so lovely against the water in the fading afternoon light. For an outdoor wedding at one of Charleston’s most beautiful venues, this wedding was truly a wonder.
Thank you both so much for including us in your wedding day and we wish you nothing but happiness as you move forward together! Congratulations again!
