Rose & Joey {Magnolia Plantation Wedding}

Emily recently had the privilege of photographing a gorgeous Magnolia Plantation wedding steeped in elegance, and we’re excited to share her experiences with you! Though they had known each other since high school, Rose and Joey did not begin dating until after college when they cultivated their romance among the monuments of D.C. Though in similar career fields, life ultimately sent them to different locations. They’ve nurtured their relationship despite these long distances and their wedding marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives together.

We adore Rose’s bridal dress, a gorgeous ruffled gown complimented by a embellished beaded neckline and ornamented royal blue heels.  This rich blue hue is carried over into the bridesmaids’ dresses and paired with lush bouquets featuring ethereal tones of white and blush.  The elegant floral design by Branch Design Studio incorporates such lovely florals as Juliet roses and anemones.  We love the addition of natural accents such a fern and eucalyptus leaves that perfectly mirror the outdoor beauty of Magnolia Plantation.  Joseph was also a showstopper himself, looking quite dapper in his classic black tux and white anemone boutonniere.

The lawn overlooking Magnolia Plantation’s iconic white bridge was transformed for the ceremony, featuring rows of crisp white chairs, sweetgrass fans and pink parasols to shade guests from the summer sun. Spanish moss draped from the majestic oak trees framed the ceremony site creating a stunning Southern backdrop for Rose and Joey’s nuptials.  The two wed before an exquisite arbor adorned with hydrangeas and roses.  Once they exchanged “I do’s” the newlyweds’ beamed with elation as they walked up the aisle as wife and husband.  For their portraits, the couple had a plethora of options starting with the Avenue of Oaks before taking a parasol toting stroll on the long white bridge.  Rose looks simply regal in her bridal portraits amongst the row of oak trees and we love the romantic portrait of Rose and Joey with her veil billowing in the wind.

The reception was held in an enclosed tent behind the veranda.  Floor-to-ceiling was draped in layers of white fabric and adorned with chandeliers.   The ornate pastel decor featuring delicate flowered china, gold rimmed glassware, and lush floral arrangements created a warm, sophisticated atmosphere that was whimsical and romantic.  Our couple only had eyes for each other during their first dance, lost in a joyous moment only about them. They enjoyed dancing and conversation with family and friends until it was time for a getaway underneath a shower of sparklers. It was time for them to begin their new chapter together.

Thank you both so much for allowing us to join you during this exciting time in your lives. We wish you nothing but happiness as you move forward together. Congratulations again!
