Rose & Joey { Downtown Charleston Engagement Portraits }

Spending some time recently on the peninsula and at Folly Beach, Emily had the privilege to capture gorgeous Downtown Charleston engagement portraits and we’re so excited to share our favorites with you today. As a cultural hub and a beautiful fusion of historic and contemporary styles and architecture, everyone experiences Charleston a bit differently, and Emily found some lovely, intimate settings to frame Rose and Joey. Rose’s aquamarine hued dress was absolutely gorgeous and beautifully complimented the striking spring colors of Downtown. Joey’s sleek navy blue suit and leather shoes and belt were the perfect compliment to Rose’s lovely look, adding comfort and class to their portraits. They were all smiles walking one of Charleston’s timeless cobblestone alleys and Emily captured several moments featuring the aged beauty of the architecture and the elegance of our couple. Sporting Charleston casual attire at the end of their time Downtown, Rose and Joey shared some intimate moments beneath sprawling live oaks.

Whereas Charleston is famous for its rich architecture and lovely design, its nearby beaches are as famous for their airy, inviting atmosphere. Folly Beach, twenty minutes from Downtown, is a lovely locale for any portraits, and we’re excited that the duo chose to spend some time on the sand. We love the change in wardrobe as Rose and Joey opted for an airy, lighter palette with her blue, pink and white printed sundress complimented wonderfully by Joey’s pale pink shirt and khaki outfit. And look at their furry friends! We always look forward to couples who want to incorporate their pets into portraits because it offers a look into their personal lives. After playing with the dogs for a bit, the sun was beginning to set and it was time to bring their engagement session to a close. Emily snapped one final shot with the pier in the background, the sun’s fading light casting a hazy pink hue over the two holding on to one another. Beautiful.
