Earlier this year, Emily spent some time on King Street in downtown Charleston for an intimate yet lively Upstairs at Midtown wedding and we’re so happy to share the experience with you today! The Upstairs at Midtown offers a private rooftop perfect for quiet weddings and a banquet space with original exposed brick that adds a touch of rustic elegance to any event. Lauren’s bridal ensemble was absolutely perfect for the day’s southern charm. A lace overlay and open-backed design was airy yet elegant, accented beautifully by a crown of white flowers and silver patterned heels. Decked out in a slate grey vest/chino combo with salmon tie, Alex waited patiently for his fiancee on a private balcony for their first look. Like us, he was speechless when he saw his bride, only able to smile and wrap his arms around her. Emily was able to capture some beautiful first look portraits but the duo only had eyes for one another. She eventually led them down to a nearby beach and they spent some time in the sun dancing and just holding on to each other – some fun moments filled with laughter and many, many smiles.
Back at the Upstairs at Midtown, the rooftop was lined with chairs, strung with twinkle lights and had candles burning around the space. The romantic ambiance was palpable as the duo became newlyweds and turned to the applause of their gathered family and friends. Inside, the polished wood and exposed brick were complimented by white platters, candles and decadent comfort food. As Lauren and Alex shared their first dance (and second), delicious hors d’oeurves provided by Maybank Catering were making their way around the gathering. The lively reception lasted well into the evening hours with the rooftop being illuminated only by the string lights and candles. The newlyweds danced in the soft golden glow without a care, a gorgeous end to such a beautiful day.
Thank you both again so much for allowing us to be involved in your lovely day. We had so much fun getting to know you and your family and wish you nothing but the best as you begin your lives together.
