Emily had the privilege of heading Downtown for a lovely and lively Gadsden House wedding, and we’re excited to share some of her experiences with you today! The Gadsden House is one of Charleston’s most beautiful historic homes and lent its southern charm and bright spaces to this lovely wedding. Kelly and Kyle were both transplants to Florida when they met and have formed a bond that has survived months of Kyle’s most recent tour overseas for the United States Air Force. The couple chose to be married at Summerall Chapel on the Citadel campus where Kyle attended college and treated their nuptials as a destination wedding for Kelly’s family so they could experience the amazing Charleston atmosphere.
On the day of the wedding, Emily caught up with Kelly as she was finishing up her breathtaking bridal ensemble. Her strapless mermaid gown with lace overlay was perfect and beautifully complimented by white textured peek-toe heels and diamond earrings. Kyle was no slouch himself, looking quite dashing in his fully decorated uniform as he waited at the end of the arrival for his stunning bride. In a traditional ceremony, the duo exchanged their vows and became husband and wife to the delight of their family and friends. As they left, they were honored by several cadets who raised their swords for the newlyweds.
The Citadel campus is steeped in military history and all who graduate from its hallowed halls gravitate back at some point in life. It’s easy to see the appeal! The picturesque natural spaces are lovely and represent all the best of Charleston. It’s the unique barracks that made for some remarkable and memorable newlywed photos. The red and white checkerboard was a fun backdrop for the smiling duo and we love the portrait of them in the archway of the spiral stairs. And of course Summerall Field was included and we love the duo sharing a kiss in front of the iconic barracks.
Finally, it was time to head to the Gadsden House for some delicious food, great music and tons of laughs! The open spaces of the home were transformed by white tablecloths, rich brown chairs and lots of lemons. And we adore the multitude of F’s sitting about the house, a homage to Kyle (and now Kelly’s) last name. The couple even started their own hashtag to commemorate their event, an excellent idea to consolidate memories across social media platforms. The newlyweds had the time of their lives dancing, laughing and just enjoying the moments. They were even serenaded much to the enjoyment of the crowd. As the duo finally said their goodbyes, they were sprinkled with rice and departed with one more kiss. It was perfect.
Thank you both so much for inviting us along on your journey and we wish you both nothing but the best as you venture forth in this new chapter together. Congratulations again!
