Memorials of Charleston’s past are littered throughout the city, from gorgeous houses to stunning waterfront plantations. Weddings at any of these venues are sure to please but a Runnymede Plantation wedding is breathtaking. The plantation maintains the nostalgic southern outdoors as it embraces a natural landscape with sprawling live oaks and rustic remnants of a brick chimney. Emily B. had the privilege of photographing a stunning wedding at Runnymede recently, and we’re excited to share our favorite moments with you today!
Kassi and Ryan were high school sweethearts and college loves who were bested by the perils of long distance. Years later they reconnected as it seems life was just taking its time. For their wedding, the duo wanted a classy, natural feel. When asked, Kassi simply wanted the plantation to speak for itself and it couldn’t have done better! Kassi was a dream in her gown – a textured cutout bodice design giving way to a fitted flowing skirt. Strapped wedges were the perfect compliment, and her bright bouquet added a nice spark of color. Waiting patiently along one of the ivy-covered walls at Middleton Inn, Ryan was quite handsome himself in a vivid blue suit and black bowtie.
Kassi met Ryan alongside a manicured field for their beautiful first look and oh man, was he all smiles! After taking the moment in, the duo danced a little for the camera and never lost their brilliant smiles. Emily took the opportunity to get a few bridal portraits, and we still can’t believe how amazing Kassi looked in her gown. Kassi and Ryan met back up with their wedding party for portraits beneath the live oaks and Spanish moss before venturing to Runnymede Plantation for the ceremony site to make things official.
Two concrete planters of flowers in front of an old oak tree with wide branches made the perfect natural altar. A few wooden benches on either side of the aisle created an inviting atmosphere filled with togetherness. A few sacred words, a couple of “I dos” and a sweet kiss was all it took for the two to become newlyweds and for the celebration to begin! Emily stole the couple away for newlywed portraits among the live oaks. Kassi and Ryan brought in their little pup for some of the photos! The puppy was having as much fun as everyone else.
Braving the elements, Kassi and Ryan decided on an open tent reception and the polished wood of the tables and the vibrant centerpieces combined with the greens and browns of the plantation for a truly rustic atmosphere. The food was scrumptious and everyone was diving into some sweet tea and the air filled with laughter and music. The dessert bar filled everyone with delectable sweets and happiness before jubilant celebration erupted on the dance floor. As the sun faded, string lights added a beautiful romantic glow to the reception and everyone danced long into the night. Despite a little rain, the day was picture perfect.
Thank you both for bringing us into your family for a day. We had so much fun getting to know you and all of your friends and wish you nothing but health and happiness as you move forward together. Congratulations again!
