Emily recently had the privilege of photographing a gorgeous Magnolia Plantation wedding steeped in southern charm, and we’re excited to share her experiences with you! Erin and Alex grew up together and began dating just before life sent them in different directions. They stayed together despite long distances, and they say they’re stronger for it, enjoying a sense of adventure and harboring a deep love of travel. As most of their family is from the Columbus, Ohio region, Erin wanted a destination wedding showcasing all of Charleston’s charm. Her dress certainly fit the southern-theme, a gorgeous lace-accented A-line gown complimented by silver beading at the waist and strapped sandals. Her bridal portraits on Magnolia’s iconic white bridge were absolutely stunning, and we love her bridal look amidst the natural beauty of the gardens. Alex was pretty handsome himself in his slate grey suit and white rose boutonniere.
A part of the gardens was transformed for the ceremony, featuring rows of rich brown chairs and a couple of aged barrels adorned with lush bouquets. Trees hung with Spanish moss stood guard as the couple exchanged their vows, an idyllic scene perfect for their theme. One of Magnolia’s avenues of oaks was a lovely spot for newlywed photos with the wedding party. We love the portraits of Erin and Alex on the bridge with the moss hanging all around. Their southern wedding needed southern inspired newlywed portraits and we were treated to some exceptionally gorgeous moments!
With strings of lights hanging overhead and continuing the blush, white and rich browns from the ceremony, the reception was an outdoor delight filled with the details we adore. From the programs that doubled as fans, to the beautiful centerpieces and even a special appearance by Charleston favorite Firefly spirits, all of the décor was classic Lowcountry fare. After sharing dances, laughter and tears with their guests, it was time for a getaway underneath sparklers. A vintage car awaited and it was time for them to begin their next adventure. Off they went.
Thank you both so much for allowing us to join you for one of the most beautiful weddings we’ve ever been a part of. We wish you nothing but health and happiness as you move forward together. Go adventure and make a life of moments. Congratulations again!
