Emily photographed a gorgeous William Aiken House wedding, and we’re excited to finally be able to share our favorite moments with you today. Charleston’s historic houses are perfect for a period themed wedding or for an event that centers around southern charm. Betsy and Matt’s beautiful day was quite charming, featuring a special first look and a color palette of pale pinks and golds. Emily caught up with the bridal party as they were putting the finishing touches on Betsy’s bridal look which featured a gorgeous linen and lace gown complimented by monogrammed sandals. Matt looked rather dapper in his cornflower blue suit and patterned tie as he waited patiently to see his lovely bride for the first time. The house’s courtyard was the perfect setting and we love the rendezvous feel of the garden space and the intimate portraits the duo took together.
Brass hurricane lanterns greeted guests as they took their seats in front of a beautiful arbor decorated with hanging glass floral ornaments adorned with baby’s breath. A beautiful reflection pond completed the deeply southern feel of the proceedings. After exchanging their vows, and sneaking a kiss of course, Betsy and Matthew were whisked away for a few newlywed pictures, including one in front of the iconic American Theater.
Back at the house, it was reception time and the tables featured lit hurricane lanterns and centerpieces of lush floral arrangements of anemone, peonies, and roses that matched the pinks and golds throughout the room. The William Aiken House is famous for its unique rooms and brilliant colors and each one perfectly complimented the hues of the wedding. We especially love the cake with its gold topper against the backdrop of powder blue. ‘Treat Yoself” indeed! Outside, the music was playing for those itching to dance on the patio’s checkerboard floor and the newlyweds had a blast dancing with their family and friends. And, in a quite unique fashion, they made their getaway not under sparklers or rice, but with bells being rung for all to hear.
Thank you both so much for the opportunity to spend this past year with you. It has been such a wonderful journey and we wish you both nothing but health and happiness in the many years to come. Congratulations again!
