Aubrey & Wade { Upstairs at Midtown Wedding }

Shannon recently captured a rustic Upstairs at Midtown wedding, and we’re sharing some of our favorite moments with you today.  Upstairs at Midtown is a jewel in the heart of Charleston, featuring restored wood floors, exposed brick and original details from its circa 1760 construction.  The result is a beautiful space perfect for couples looking for a touch of southern charm to their event.  Aubrey and Wade were brought together through her aunt in classic “there’s someone you need to meet” fashion and fate did the rest.  For their wedding they wanted something simple but elegant, with a small guest list of mostly family.  Elegant was the best word to describe the bride as her lace-embroidered Stella York gown and Steve Madden strapped heels were absolutely stunning.  Wade was dashing in his slate three piece suit and navy tie.

There was an abundance of charming details throughout the day, beginning with the ceremony.  The ring bearer carried a wood placard announcing the arrival of the bride and the flower girl sprinkled lovely pink rose petals which were beautiful against the polished wood.  Around the room, the shine of polished pine, oak and mahogany was abundant – from the welcome sign between two ornate hurricane lanterns to a beautiful quote from the Song of Solomon.  The dark tones matched the navy and pink perfectly and created a rustic and inviting atmosphere.

After exchanging vows in front of one of the venue’s 250 year old fireplaces, the newlyweds ventured out into the evening for some portraits.  Shannon took them around a few of Charleston’s quiet lanes and they looked lovely surrounded by pastels and wrought iron.  After a stroll down Rainbow Row, the couple headed to Hampton Park.  We love Aubrey’s look beneath the wide branches of live oaks strewn with Spanish moss.  In the fading daylight, they both glowed.

Back at Midtown, the guests were catching up beneath string lights.  Nothing says southern more than their party favors – a pairing of RC Cola and a moon pie.  When the newlyweds finally returned, it was time to wine and dine before heading to the dance floor.  An old light blue and white Chevy truck sat outside, awaiting their departure.  And when it was time to go, Wade dipped Aubrey and kissed her beneath an arch of sparklers before they took off into the night.

Thank you both again for bringing us along on this journey.  We loved the thought and care you put into every detail and it was such a blessing to be a part of it all.  We wish you nothing but health and happiness up in North Carolina.  Congratulations again!
